Description

Hurricanes Idalia (2023), Debby (2024), and Helene (2024) left a wake of destruction in the town of Steinhatchee, located in the Big Bend area of North Florida. The tragic devastation of this community of 500 has taken a huge toll. The storm surge with Helene reached 20 feet with winds up to 140 mph. Debby’s storm surge was 3-5 feet, while Idalia’s storm surge was 12 feet in Steinhatchee.

Project Overview

In this rural, coastal community, two organizations are currently working to restore and reconstruct homes and businesses. These groups will leave Taylor County, FL, in the last week of March 2025. Sister-Corps will step in to start new projects or wrap up any unfinished work to help people return to their homes and businesses.

If you cannot remain with the project for the entire duration, please visit the Sister-Corps volunteer website for other opportunities.

Your team will consist of both seasoned volunteers and eager learners under the direction of a team lead.
