Instruction will include measuring and marking, power tool safety, use, operation and maintenance, construction of stud walls or deck/stairs/ramp, cutting and hanging drywall, and drywall finishing. At the conclusion of the week, those who are interested in using power tools on a Sister Corps project may take the PTSV (Power Tool Safety Verification) evaluation. Sister Corps has added this annual safety verification requirement for all power tool users. Classes will be held at Kim’s residence on 40 acres that includes a shop. We are seeking a two-to-three-day project that will benefit the community and put your new skills to use! If you don’t own a Sister Corps t-shirt, please purchase one or two through the store on our website at sister-corps.org. Allow two to three weeks shipping time. Kim has offered her land for boondocking (no hook-ups) and tent camping, along with space for air mattresses inside the house. There are also two local campgrounds; Miller’s Outpost RV Resort and Wooly Hollow State Park. Entertainment will include fishing in Kim’s stocked pond and swimming in the creek, a game of putt-putt golf, a trip to the local thrift shops, and a rousing wiffle ball game and cookout! Please bring cash as many local businesses do not accept credit cards and we will need to reimburse the shopper for groceries.
